| What is the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale?

A sporting event, the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022. In partnership with the Fédération Française de Voile, this race brings together sailing enthusiasts from all horizons to compete on the water.

The event serves as the backdrop for the French one-design championship, as well as hosting the French sailing championship of the Fédération des Clubs de Défense and, in conjunction with the French Education Ministry, the Coupe des Lycées.

The Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale is a not-to-be-missed event for amateur and experienced sailors, students, secondary school pupils, disabled athletes, young people in difficulty, and French and foreign military personnel.

From 18 to 20 May, the 22nd edition of the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale featured strong winds, sunshine, conviviality and competitiveness.

| 11 BirdyFish on the starting line of the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale

So it goes without saying that we wanted to be there !

For the very first time, 11 BirdyFishes took to the water last month.

Our private customers and sailing schools, as well as our dealers, took part in this event, with their BirdyFish to discover the pleasures of regattas on the Lanvéoc stretch of water with banana courses.

We came away with some great memories, and we hope the participants will too. To make sure you don’t forget this event, we’ve put a video on youtube for you to watch.

| The general ranking

#1b68b1

The heats were highly competitive, to say the least. Despite the very different levels of competition, the show was on.

The competitive spirit took over, and our president, Pierre Rhimbault, couldn’t resist the urge to win. Alongside Vianney Guilbaud, he won the 3 days of racing with 8 points, followed by the Evo Sailing team with 11 points, and one of the SRH crews with 19 points.

With 3 heats every week, you might as well say that this first BirdyFish regatta was a great one !

It was all about the wind, sharing, having fun and taking off as much as possible, and it seems that the participants loved taking part.

| Feedback from participants in the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale

It was great ! Thank you for giving us advice to help us improve even more. It was really interesting to race this new boat, which has great racing potential.

Some of them have already signed up for the next regatta !

We saw the smiles and joy of the participants during the race. So we asked them for their feedback and impressions. And it was very positive, with some areas for improvement for the next race.

The solidarity between the crews, the support and advice, but also the atmosphere and the start times were all points that really impressed us !

This first race also showed that the BirdyFish has a good capacity for fleet racing, and that it was a successful first event.

We’d like to thank all the participants for coming and we’re delighted that the event was such a success.

The event also attracted the attention of Le Télégramme.

A new article on our hydrofoil dinghy, accessible, but just as capable of evolving into a regatta!

We invite you to read the article.

| From learning to racing

BirdyFish has been designed and created to allow enthusiasts to discover the pleasures of taking to the air easily : a concentration of racing technologies at the service of learning. But we also wanted to listen and respond to the desire to push the boat further, towards more sporting activities, by making it upgradable.

This very first participation in the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale, as well as our participation in other major events, launches BirdyFish into the world of regattas.

Who knows, the next step could be a national regatta by the end of 2023 ? Let us know in the comments if you fancy it !
